Bryant B. Brooks was born in Bernardston, Massachusetts on February 5, 1861. He was educated in public schools and finished his education at a business college in Chicago. Brooks relocated to Big Muddy, Wyoming in 1880 where he would engage in stock raising. In time, he became a successful stockman and was active in politics and several civic organizations. He was elected to fill out the unexpired term of Governor DeForest Richards in 1904 and was re-elected in 1906. Afterwards, he became involved in banking and oil. Bryant B. Brooks died on December 8, 1944 in Casper, Wyoming.

He married Mary Willard on March 11, 1886 in Alexandria, Nebraska. They had four girls and one boy (Jeanie, Abby, Lena, Melissa, and Silas).
