C. Stewart Brown


Wyoming Supreme Court 1981-1988

Charles Stuart Brown was born on June 30, 1918 in Freedom, Wyoming. He was an engineer with the US Army during World War II and the Korean War and an elementary school principle. After receiving a law degree from the University of Utah in 1950, practiced law for many years in Kemmerer and was also county and prosecuting attorney of Lincoln County, associate solicitor of the US Department of the Interior, and city attorney for Afton. From 1964 to 1981 Brown served as judge of the Third Judicial District. Governor Ed Herschler appointed him to the Supreme Court on March 26, 1981. He retired on June 30, 1988 and died in Cheyenne on December 12, 1997.
