Carl Robinson

Carl Robinson of Afton, was born May 3, 1895, at Richmond, Utah, and he moved to Star Valley with his parents when he was seven years old. After experience in ranching and in the mercantile business, he became manager of the bank in Afton in 1931, at a time when banks were in an unsettled condition. Since then he has served as a managing officer with this bank and has watched the assets grow from $87,000 to $7 million.

He is past president of the Wyoming Bankers Association and past vice president for Wyoming of the American Bankers Association. He has served about forĀ­ ty years as officer and director of the Star Valley Swiss Cheese Company. He was an organizer of the Teton Insurance Company and has served as its director and treasurer since 1960. He was one of the leaders who initiated the organization of the Star Valley Development Corporation. He served a number of years as a member of the Civilian Advisory Committee for Bridger National Forest and has been for some time a board member for Scarborough Associates, Inc., of Chicago. He has also taken an active part in 4-H programs.

Before becoming State Auditor, 1944, he served four terms in the House of Representatives and two in the Senate as majority floor leader. He has been a member of the Columbia River Compact Commission and of the Council of State Government. A testimonial dinner was held in his honor in Afton June 11, 1966, because of his outstanding record of achievement.

Robinson died March 31, 1986, and is buried in Afton, Wyoming.[1]
