Edward M. Lee was born in Guildford, Connecticut on August 23, 1837. After serving in the Civil War and the Connecticut General Assembly, he was appointed Secretary of Wyoming Territory by President Grant on April 7, 1869 and served until May 25, 1870. He later founded the Wyoming Tribune. Lee later moved to New York to practice law. He died on January 1, 1913 in New York City and was buried in Guildford, Connecticut.
