Harry Roberts

State Superintendent of Public Instruction 1967-1971

K.H. "Harry" Roberts, who served as State Superintendent of Public Instruction from 1967 to 1971, was born in New York City December 10, 1917. He graduated from Yale in 1939 with a BA degree in Economics. He served in the U.S. Navy four years. In 1946, after attending the University of Maryland, he moved to Wyoming. He first lived at Big Horn and in 1951 moved to Kaycee where he engaged in ranching.

He served on the school board, District 11, Johnson County, eleven years; was president of Johnson County School Trustees Association two terms; president of Wyoming School Board Association two terms; and chairman of the Governor's Committee on Education. He has played an active role in Soil Conservation, in the Wool Grower's Association, Johnson County Youth Camp and in 4-H. He engaged in business in Casper.[1]In 1970, he narrowly lost the election for US Senator to Teno Roncalio.

Roberts was the first non educator to serve as the Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction.
