Wyoming Supreme Court 1879 - 1884
James Beverley Sener was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia in May 1837. A graduate of the University of Virginia at Charlottsville and Washington College (now Washington and Lee University), he practiced law in Fredericksburg and served as sheriff and sergeant. He was also a correspondent for the Southern Associated Press, a newspaper editor, delegate to the Republican National Convention, and Congressman from Virginia. President Rutherford B. Hayes appointed him as chief justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court, serving from December 18, 1879 to July 5, 1884. Sener died in Washington, D.C., on November 18, 1903 and was buried in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
