Jason B. Brown was born in Dillsboro, Indiana on February 26, 1839. He practiced law and served in the Indiana legislature. He was appointed Secretary of Wyoming Territory by President Grant on March 26, 1873 and served until March 17, 1875. Brown then returned to Indiana where he was active in politics. He died in Seymour, Indiana on March 10, 1898.
