Lynn Simons

Lynn Osborn Simons was born June 1, 1934 in Havre, Montana, to Robert and Dorothy Briggs Osborn. She graduated from Golden (CO) High School in 1952 and went on to complete a Bachelor's degree at the University of Colorado in 1956. Simons has also completed graduate work at the University of Wyoming.

Simons taught English and history in Midvale (UT), Rock Springs and Laramie before moving to Casper where she worked as a teacher at Natrona County High School. She served on the state Board of Education from 1971 until 1977 including one year as chairman of that board. She also served on the Wyoming State Retirement Board.

Since Simons' election in 1978, certification standards for teachers school accreditation standards have been revised and a court-mandated restructuring of Wyoming's funding system was implemented. Simons also helped establish a telecommunications system linking the state's school districts, the University of Wyoming and the Department of Education.

Simons and her husband John have two sons (Clayton Osborn, William Blair).
