Wyoming Supreme Court 1982-1955
William Addison Riner was born in Greene, Iowa on June 26, 1878. After practicing law in Michigan less than one year, he moved to Cheyenne in 1902. Active in the Republican Party, he was a city attorney, United States District Attorney, and district court judge. On January 10, 1928, Governor Frank C. Emerson appointed Riner as Justice of the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy of Judge Charles Potter. He was elected in 1924 and re-elected in succeeding years. Riner died in office on November 20, 1955.
Riner was the nephew of fellow judge John A. Riner.
