Wyoming Supreme Court 1917-1921
Charles Edward Blydenburgh was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 19, 1854. Soon after graduating in 1878 with an engineering degree from Columbia University, Blydenburgh came to Wyoming as a mining engineer. He had an office in Rawlins for two years, after which he and his brother went into the cattle business near Saratoga. He was later county superintendent of schools, member of the territorial legislative assembly, city attorney, city councilman, school board member. He returned to law, establishing a prominent practice in Rawlins, and was active in the Democratic Party. Governor Frank Houx appointed Blydenburgh as Justice of the Supreme Court on November 1, 1917 to fill the vacancy of Richard H. Scott. He was elected in 1918 and died in office on April 17, 1921.
