J. Kirk Baldwin

J. Kirk Baldwin was born on October 6, 1894 in Cheyenne. He was educated and raised in Cheyenne, Casper, and Denver. An aviation supporter, he was an advisor for the Bureau of Air Commerce, oversaw the construction of airports and landing fields in Wyoming, authored the Aeronautics Act and sponsored the bill creating the Wyoming Aeronautics Commission. Baldwin was elected State Treasurer in 1934 and served one term as a part of the only term in Wyoming history where the Democratic Party held all five of the state-wide elected offices. Afterwards, he was appointed to the Civil Aeronautics Board of the US Department of Commerce. He died in Denver in December 1967.
