Territorial Treasurer

The office of Treasurer of the Territory was created by the Territorial Legislative Assembly of 1869. [1] The Territorial Treasurer was appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Council for a term of two years. He was required to give bond of ten thousand dollars. His duties included receiving and keeping all moneys of the Territory, disbursing the public moneys upon warrants, etc.

The Territorial Treasurer received a salary of eight hundred dollars for two years, and two per cent of all moneys paid into the Territorial Treasury. [2] At the time Wyoming became a State he was receiving two thousand eight hundred dollars for salary and commissions for two years. [3]

State Treasurer

The State Treasurer receives and keeps all moneys of the state, not expressly required by law to be received and kept by some other persons, properly accounting for the receiving and disbursing of the same. He pays all warrants duly and legally issued by the Auditor; makes numerous distributions of various state funds as prescribed by law; invests state funds, permanent and cash, in securities authorized by law and approval of the Fiscal Board comprised of the Governor, Attorney General, and State Treasurer. The State Treasurer also administers the Workmen's Compensation Department and the Agricultural Gas Tax refund.
