Territorial Treasurer 1888-1890
Luke Vorhees was born on November 29, 1835 in Belvidere, New Jersey. He came to Cheyenne in 1876 and organized a stage coach and express line operating between Cheyenne and Deadwood, South Dakota and in time, developed interests in livestock and mining. He served as Territorial Treasurer from 1888 to 1890, and later was county treasurer of Laramie County and an agent of the US Land Office in Cheyenne. Vorhees died in Cheyenne on January 16, 1925.
